ARLIS/NA-TC Chapter Summer Book Club, Thursday, August 16

Hello Twin Cities Chapter!

The 2018 Twin Cities Chapter Summer Book Club will take place Thursday, August 16th, beginnig at 5:30.  The book selection is The Last Painting of Sara De Vos by Dominic Smith.
We had discussed at our Spring meeting that we might try to organize a Book-to-Art project for the summer book club meeting, but unfortunately the summer got away from me and I was unable to organize a program in time for the August meeting.  So, we will have our meeting at Aster Cafe,  125 SE Main St, Minneapolis, and hope for weather conducive for sitting on their lovely patio along the river.  I will work on planning the Book-to-Art project for our winter book club meeting.

Please RSVP by Monday, August 13 using the link below so that I can make a reservation for the group.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

Cheers,
Beth Goodrich

About the book: Surrealist writer and painter Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) was a master of the macabre, of gorgeous tableaus, biting satire, roguish comedy, and brilliant, effortless flights of the imagination. Nowhere are these qualities more ingeniously brought together than in the works of short fiction she wrote throughout her life. Published to coincide with the centennial of her birth, The Complete Stories of Leonora Carrington collects for the first time all of her stories, including several never before seen in print. With a startling range of styles, subjects, and even languages (several of the stories are translated from French or Spanish), The Complete Stories of Leonora Carrington captures the genius and irrepressible spirit of an amazing artist’s life. (215 pgs)

Please note, area library holdings for this title are very slim, but the book is less than $15 new and the ebook is even less
