The ARLIS/NA-TC Chapter is pleased to offer an award to enhance the professional development of early, mid, and late career ARLIS/NA members by supporting attendance at the ARLIS/NA annual conference, ARLIS/NA regional chapter meetings, enrollment in the Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources and Image Management, or a one-year membership to ARLIS/NA for first-time members. The committee will also consider applications for attendance at other relevant professional conferences, such as the Visual Resources Association (VRA) annual conference.
Applicants for the award must be current ARLIS/NA and/or ARLIS/NA-TC members at the time of application. Applicants who receive partial or no institutional funding toward the cost of attending conferences or workshops or for professional memberships will be given priority. Preference is given to chapter officers, conference speakers, moderators, ARLIS/NA committee members, students, first-time conference attendees, or new ARLIS/NA members but all are encouraged to apply. Travel or enrollment must occur within 18 months of receiving the award. Awardees must use award funds in their entirety for membership, or registration or travel costs for conference or workshop attendance. If an awardee chooses not to use award funds over and above the cost of ARLIS/NA-TC membership, additional awards may be given at the discretion of the award committee, or the remaining funds will be reserved for future ARLIS/NA-TC programming or awards. A person who receives an award will not be eligible to apply for another award until after 3 years.
Timeline and Process
Applications are due on February, 2021.
Applicants are asked to submit a letter (via e-mail) to members of the Award Committee. For those seeking the one-year membership, the letter should include a statement of qualifications, the applicant’s member category, and expected benefits or outcomes. Applicants seeking funding for conference attendance should also include their proposed conference program involvement and amount of expected institutional funding.

Administration of the Award
The Award Committee will review all applications and select a recipient. The recipient will be informed and asked to accept or decline the award in writing. If the first choice award recipient declines, an alternative person from the applicant pool will be selected and offered the award. Upon receiving written acceptance of the award, the ARLIS/NA-TC Secretary/Treasurer will coordinate with the award recipient to complete the membership process or send the recipient a check court to six weeks prior to the start of the conference.
Award recipients are asked to write a brief statement for the Chapter website and give a short presentation at a Chapter meeting during the year on how they have benefitted professionally from their ARLIS/NA membership or conference participation.
